10 mm

10mm Auto was introduced in 1983. The design was adopted and later produced by ammunition manufacturer FFV Norma AB of Sweden. Although 10mm was selected by the FBI in 1989 after the aftermath of the 1986 Miami Shootout, the cartridge was later decommissioned (except by the Hostage Rescue Team and Special Weapons and Tactics Team) after their Firearms Training Unit concluded the recoil was excessive in terms of training for average agents and officers competency of use and qualification.
