338 Winchester Magnum
The .338 Winchester Magnum is a belted, rimless, bottleneck cartridge introduced by Winchester in 1958. The .338 Winchester Magnum follows modern cartridge designs in that the cartridge features minimal taper to maximize case capacity while still providing reliable feeding and extraction. The cartridge is able to propel a 225 grain bullet to velocities of 2800 feet per second which has a muzzle energy of 3918 foot pounds.
