480 Ruger

The .480 Ruger is a large, high-power revolver cartridge that was introduced by Hornady and Ruger in 2003. At the time it was introduced it was the largest diameter production revolver cartridge. The .480 is a well balanced cartridge that provides a lot of energy without the recoil of a larger hard kicking round. After the introduction of the .500 S&W Magnum in 2003 and the .460 S&W Magnum in 2005, the .480 Ruger started to fall into obscurity as it could not continue to compete.
